'The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.' - Marcel Proust Social Studies / Classes / 2008-2009 Welcome to the 2008-09 academic year! This website will serve as your information source for every aspect of your class, including expectations, assignments, discussion, resources, and guidance.
For my 12th graders, your time in class will be spent examining various themes related to systems of government, American democracy, election processes, and the principles of economics from both a macro- and a microeconomic scale. You will be asked to look through many different lenses, all in an effort to broaden your understanding of the world around you. My 10th graders will experience a very special junior year. You will sit ringside to witness one of the greatest political spectacles known to man - a presidential election. We will integrate the election process into every facet of our studies in an effort to bring the elctoral process and U.S. history alive for all of us. Our overarching goal this year is to acquire the foundational knowledge necessary to make informed decisions. The final results of our efforts wil serve to insure the preservation of the public good, while building our understanding of an increasingly interdependent world. |
